Weekly Photo: Playing in the Rain

No Comment // Written on Jul 29, 2010 // Friends, Fun stuff, Philippines, Photography, Weekly Photo

In light of today’s valley wide rainstorm in the Phoenix area, and the 1 year anniversary of going back to the Philippines, I thought this self pic would be great for today.

This was up in the mountains in the Philippines. We went up to escape the heat and check out a waterfall. This pool was fed by fresh waters flowing from the rain forests in the jungle. After coming back from the hike to see this magnificent waterfall, the skies opened up and out came the rain. It would be one that would receive national news attention in Phoenix, but probably just an extra strong storm for the island of Negros Oriental.

Rain brings dread to the Filipinos, but to this guy from the desert, it brings excitement (as you can see from everybody’s facebook and twitter posts from people in Phoenix!) So I made the best of it and had my wife take this fun shot of me in the pool.

Manny Pacquiao won this weekend over Miguel Cotto. As if you needed to be told that. My entire friends feed on Facebook and Twitter was covered in an outpouring of support for the famed Filipino fighter. Here are some of my friends reactions.

No Comment // Written on Sep 27, 2009 // Christian, Family, In the news, Philippines

8:00 AM – 1:00 PM somewhere in Metro PHX. We will be accepting donations, 100% of proceeds will go to the Philippine Red Cross. We hope to be collecting items to send back as well, currently checking on resources for that.

To have the most up to date info on the carwash, visit www.twitter.com/floodcarwash

If you would like to help out in anyway, email floodcarwash@gmail.com

In the meantime if you’re sitting there and feeling like you want to do something right away, or can’t help, please pray for the people affected by Ondoy.

Thanks,

Eric

Manila to Cebu

OK here is the next set of photos from my trip. I’m a little behind in posting, we went to another island for a couple days that was very remote so no internet access, which is also a good thing. Anyway here are some photos from our last night in Manila and first day in Cebu.

I’ll include a little more details this time too. One of my favorite things about this trip that I can enjoy this time that I didn’t have an appreciation for before is the food. 9 years ago all I ate here was the chicken and some fish with rice. I missed out on the fresh cut mangoes, bikol express, goat meat (yeah I ate that today, freshly killed, pretty tasty), and tons of other foods. I’ll be sure to try and cook some new things when I get back home.

Remember click on a photo to enlarge.

Peace,
Eric.
