Weekly Photo for 4th of July

No Comment // Written on Jul 03, 2009 // Photography, Weekly Photo

In honor of 4th of July, this week’s weekly photo is from Tempe Town Lake’s 4th of July celebration. I don’t believe you can sit this close to the fireworks anymore. The year after this was shot they put yellow caution tape where we sat before but it was the best fireworks show I’ve ever seen in my life.

We laid down on a hill and the fireworks were just in your face. If you want to join us for some BBQ and fireworks, we will be out there again, just the previous blog post to see the info.

Also be sure to click on the photo to see a larger version of it.

Lantern Floating – The First Photo

No Comment // Written on Jun 24, 2009 // Photography, Travel

This is the first of hopefully many, many weekly posts of photos I have taken and the story behind them. All of these photos by the way, are for sale as prints since they make wonderful artwork on your wall. The first post I wanted to pick out one of my favorite photos.

On our honeymoon in Hawaii, they do an annual Lantern Floating Festival (link).  It’s really something for the local Hawaiian’s to go to and remember their family members so it was nice to get away from all the touristy places in Honolulu. I had to step way out into the water to get this photo and emotional people were all around me releasing lanterns into the sea and remembering their loved ones. According to the event organizers, this is a way for people to  “honor and pray for those who sacrificed their lives in war, for loved ones who have passed away and to aim for a harmonious and peaceful future.”

I also have some video I took at the event on my youtube channel: Lantern Floating Festival

My Simple April Fools Joke

No Comment // Written on Apr 02, 2009 // Fun stuff

April Fools Day is almost like a holiday for me. I love pranking people all year round, so when a day is nationally dedicated to it, I can’t resist.

I didn’t really have anything planned out this year. I do have this elaborate plan set for a coworker someday but that takes a whole team of people and some sneaky coordination. I settled for this in 2009.

I sent out a simple email to everyone in my department at my job at Chase in the morning, and in the afternoon I sent an email to the whole office at my internship at the ad agency. Here is basically what I sent out.

“You all know how I love cookies but I brought some extra in for you guys, they are on a plate in the empty desk in front of Chuck. Thanks, Eric.”

Here is what they found when they got to the desk.

I printed out a bunch of them and stuck it in a cookie box. Well at Chase, about 8 of the 14 people in my department fell for it. The first one…. my supervisor LOL. Anyway my prank topped all the weak ones by coworkers attempted such as taping the mouse to the desk, or moving my chair.

It played over well in the afternoon at the internship. A few people told me they got tricked and I got 2 email responses.

HILLLLiarous.

Damnit, I fell for it!

You should know better than to tease about sweets in this place J

So thanks to everyone for being good sports. Time to start planning for 2010.

Eric.
